The 8 do’s and don’ts of giving your pet treats

Giving your pet a treat is just another way of saying “I love you.” That’s why, whether you’ve got a dog, cat, small pet or bird, you want to shower them with snacks as often as possible.

Although occasional treats are perfectly fine (and often encouraged), it’s important to treat responsibly. To do this, there are a few questions that need to be answered.

For example, do you ever wonder how many treats is the right amount? All you need to do is work out their daily calorie intake. Thankfully there’s a perfectly logical and mathematical way to do this, and yes, you can use a calculator.

Giving your pet’s treats should make up no more than 10% of their daily calorie intake a day. If numbers send your mind in a whirl, then just limit the treats to 1 to 2 a day.
